Golden light
The sun was back this morning which was lovely to see but there was a slight chill with it making the feel distinctly autumnal.
Harvest festival at church today. Lovely to see several people who haven’t been since pre Covid and quite a number of children too. Most of the food donated was non perishable to be taken to the local food bank but there was a display of traditional fruit and vegetables. They were to be sold for donations, ( Chris also took some of his last year’s chutney and pickles) and the donations are going towards funding a goat!
We’ve also given coats, hats, scarves and gloves to the Congregational church for the use of the homeless.
Our rector kept referring to the wonderful cakes across the road at Yorkshire Treats as part of his Harvest talk, I think he is their biggest fan. As a consequence I called in after church to get a couple of cakes for tea. It was busy and there was a queue but still plenty for all. I got a mixed fruit tart and a Manchester tart for us to share. No son Alex for tea today as he has gone to London to watch American NFL at Tottenham, don’t know any more than that!
The blip is the sun through the leaves on our Hamamelis trees. The yellow flowering one is still green and the newer red flowering one has lovely russet coloured leaves. A lovely combination in the sun as hopefully the flowers will be when they return in late December or early January.
Last cut of the lawns this afternoon?
