Farewell to Santiago
I thought I would be pleased to leave this city behind and to walk out towards the sea, but somehow it has captivated me. Last night I walked out through the streets alone and felt them full of life and vibrance and years of history. We will be back next week for a brief visit but for now here is a photo of our last look back at the Cathedral as we came up out of the forest.
Today we walked 13.75 miles along quiet roads and forest paths. For part of the way, we walked with a Dutch man in his 70s called Cornelius, who had completed 6 Caminos. He had been walking since 27th August on a route which had taken him from Valencia to Zamora and was now on his way to stay with some Spanish friends.
We are now in Negreira and tomorrow have short day's walk to Santa Marinã.
