Temple Bridge

6 am start for K1’s appointment in Bristol for her eye op. After checking her in to the clinic I had a few hours to spare and realised I was close enough to walk to Temple Bridge, where I’d photographed the newly completed bridge over twenty years ago at the start of my freelance career. It was an evening shot and when I wrapped up for the night I was told by an onlooker he’d been keeping an eye out for me - ‘this is not the sort of place to be with expensive equipment at night’ he warned; we had a coffee together and compared notes on our ‘night shifts’ (he was painting railings to a nearby car park). The far side was hoarded off derelict land then, now there are gleaming steel and glass buildings.
I had just enough time to get my photos when the call came through to collect K1; all successful so we headed back to base.
