Mono Monday: invented in 19th Century

Photography. Where would we be without it? Invented, refined and popularised in 19th century it must be an activity with the widest and deepest impact. From the snaps and ramblings of blippers like me to the truly awesome (proper sense of the word) images we see from round the world photography is such a rich way to document life.

I've blipped these ambrotypes before, though not in mono. They are my great, great, great grandparents Christina Colville and Samuel Munn. As an extra I've added a slip of paper bearing my grandmother's handwriting. My grandmother was the great granddaughter of Christina and Samuel. They are a very precious connection to the past in general (the photography  technique) and my family past in particular.

Our friend and house guest M has packed up and left for his journey home. I'm waiting for my little grandson, all recovered from his dramatic trip to A&E last week, to arrive. I'll be busy for the rest of the day entertaining him.
