died,. perhaps from honey-fungus. So treatment started with a chainsaw; and now innoculation  with a different strain of mycelium. The idea is that the benign strain with out-compete the nasty one. The added bonus, if it works, is that we get edible oyster mushrooms. Thanks to S for the idea.
