A stone by the shore
Join me in using your imagination on Indigenous Peoples Day T and I were walking on the shoreline below the cemetery bluff beside our old homestead today. Thoughts were swirling in my head, thinking of this shore as sacred ground, sacred to the Passamaquoddy People, The People of the Dawn. A face appeared, etched in a large stone along the tideline. In that stone I saw a face, a strong face. A face shedding a long tear for all that was lost, for all that was sacred. The river that once floated their canoes, provided fish, seals, shellfish. Their villages dotting these shores, their stories passed on for thousands of years. Use your imagination, can you see that long tear? I see a trail of tears.
For the Record,
This day came in absolutely perfect with sun and warmth.
All hands happy
