The Pier

I guess piers were not actually invented in the 1800s, though they were first introduced in Britain in 1813/14 with the building of Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight.  This was followed by Trinity Chain Pier near Leith in 1821 and Brighton Chain Pier in 1823.  This particular one is Teignmouth Pier, built in 1865.

Thanks to laurie54 for hosting today's Mono Monday, Inventions in the 19th century.

We are taking a short break in Dawlish Warren and stopped off in Teignmouth for a walk along the beach before getting our apartment keys. Ann tried a little art in the sand, see extras.
