Project 365 day 284: Pallets
Although many sources state that the shipping pallet is an early twentieth century invention, designed to work with the newly developed fork lift truck and manufactured in a number of standard sizes in different parts of the world, a number of websites point out that less standardised pallets were already in use in the nineteenth century. Pallets have become ubiquitous, and are frequently re-used in many creative ways. Compost heaps made by nailing a few pallets together are very common and very useful, though this example has started to collapse under the weight of its contents and clearly needs to be secured more effectively.
The extra is my favourite mono shot from today - more weeds in my garden.
