Tu Hwnt I'r Bont
The flooring guys arrived at 9am ready to start screeding the floors, and we left them to it and set off on our little staycation. We stopped en-route in Llanrwst as I'd seen photos of this little tea room 'Tu Hwnt I'r Bont' which looks amazing with all the autumn colours.
We then drove to the Mach Loop where the military practice low flying through the valley, and if you climb to the top you are pretty much at the same level as the planes. I found the flight timetable and we took a picnic and sat and waited but there aren't any guarantees that they will fly, they only decide on the day dependent on the weather conditions. Alan took is radio and he downloaded an App that shows any planes that are in the area, and everything was very quiet, but at 1.40pm a Texan appeared and flew very fast and very low past us - unfortunately I was sat down, my cameras weren't ready so I could only shoot up into the sky, so there was no spectacular scenery around him. He did come back for a second fly past though, and then about an hour later 4 Hawks flew through in formation which was amazing, but very fast and hard to capture.
On our way to the cottage, we passed a hotel on the banks of Llyn Mwyngil so we decided to stop and have a drink, it's such a beautiful spot and the reflections on the lake were stunning. We arrived at 'Y Popty' (which means the Bakehouse) about 6pm and unpacked and settled in the for the night. The owners live in the house adjoining and they have two cottages which they rent out and which are set in about 4 acres of land overlooking the sea, it's a beautiful spot and we look forward to exploring.
