Light up the North
Another of the CLAN lighthouses, this one overlooking the sea in Peterhead. Given the importance of Peterhead as a whaling then fishing port and the anxiety endured by the wives of the men at sea the words on the lighthouse are particularly poignant. It is also thought that the song originally referenced Bonnie Prince Charlie and Peterhead has strong Jacobite associations, the Old Pretender having landed here on 22 December 1715.
