Mam Tor

After booking a workshop with John Gravett at LPH nearly 2 years ago, and having it postponed twice, I'm finally on my way up to The Lakes to meet friends and fellow workshop members for a pre-workshop long weekend on Friday, but took the opportunity to travel up early make a flying visit to the Peak District, before spending a day at RHS Bridgewater tomorrow.

Mam Tor, or "Mother Hill", is a Peak District "bucket list" location, and from my brief visit is well deserved. A relatively easy walk up to the summit on a paved path gives 360 degree views over both the Dark Peak (gritstone) and the White Peak (limestone) areas and along Hope Valley.   Apparently on clear days you can see Manchester ... today was not one of those!
