Milkweed

Angel hair is the closest I can compare the luxurious down of the milkweed seed pods. I would love a sweater made of the silky soft hairs attached to each seed. The seeds lie symmetrically inside the pod, and I felt like I was disturbing a delicate heirloom. I heard that monarch butterflies love milkweed and lay eggs on the 2-feet-high, flowering plant. So we planted some but released the majority and watched them fill the air and land in the grasses on the hill that overlooks our home. It was a holy moment. I hope to see a few monarchs next summer
