A thinking place ...
Unless you hadn't picked up on it (!), Dad's hometown was Birmingham. I remember him talking about St Philips Place and the cathedral - he may have worked near here. I particularly remember this place as there was a great record shop near here and we used to come and lounger up here afterwards!
On the journey of my Dad's illness and his passing, I have realised how much I miss home. Yes, I live in London, and I love it here - but there is a big bit of my heart in the West Midlands.
As I walked up to New Street today, I had a huge lump in my throat as I can see my Dad weaving through New Street, waiting to collect me from a train.
Back to normality, picked my son up (who was soooo pleased to see me!) and my daughter a little later from a party. It was nice to back home.
On a brighter note, the foundations for the extention are built! Whoooop!! (Can I go shopping yet?!)
