History on the sands
Backblip
We went to Crow Point and Braunton Burrows on the Taw Torridge Estuary. We were lucky to have sunny weather fro walking and we enjoyed exploring the sand dunes and wrecks of old boats.
Our favourite bit was seeing the remains of the old lighthouse and the various WW2 remains of items built for assault training in preparations for D Day. In my blip the brick remains of the lighthouse are in the background and some of the WW2 posts in the foreground. The extra is the top of some sort of metal pipe holder.
We got chatting to a local man who told us all about the area. He said that during Lockdown his church did zoom services where the congregation each contributed. He decided to do a talk from the old lighthouse with the sand in the background. When he looked at it he saw a naked man walking past in the background so had to film it again. (Apparently naturism is a popular activity in the area. We did not try it out!)
After our walk we had a quick visit to Instow where the US army held rehearsals for D Day. A little egret was feeding in a channel of water on the beach, they're becoming very common to see these days.
