Cairnsmore of Carsphairn.

A change of plan today. Kirkcudbright and Cream of Galloway  postponed until tomorrow.  Today I set out on the single track back road from Creetown to Gatehouse of Fleet.  It's dry and cloudy with the sun breaking through once in a while.  There was a lovely view of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn with one solitary sheep.  In a fit of idiocy I drove on down to the Cairnsmore of Fleet visitors centre.  The road isn't steep but it twists and has no passing places as such so one prays not to meet another car.  I didn't and reached the visitors centre pleased to see they had loos. Took some photos but even though the sun was out I wasn't impressed.   Coming out I met two cars. We edged past each other with hands clamped to the wheel. A relief to turn onto the Gatehouse road which, although single track is quite wide with generous lay-bys.  I was parked for ages clicking away happily.   Met a cyclist who  was staying at Kirkcudbright and had been photographing reflections of the moon and stars in wet sand at Brighouse Bay.  Felt very envious.
Didn't stop in Gatehouse but went up the Laurieston Road and parked in the Knocktinkle car park for a picnic lunch.  It's a lovely spot with views over to Castramont wood.  The trees there haven't changed colour yet but a couple of sheep came along to enjoy the grass and the view.  My plans to photograph at Loch Ken came to nothing  Every space was crammed with fishermen.  I think there must have been a competition on.  Returned to base over the Queensway where the berries were spectacular.  We are being lucky with the weather.
