The Abbey Lands

This is the view from the cider house garden at Buckland Abbey this morning. There are usually sheep or cows, or both grazing in the fields, but there were no animals to be seen today. The old abbey, the gardens and the surrounding land always seem so peaceful, particularly in the early morning when there are few visitors.
