Storm clouds
The forecast for today varies from thick cloud to even thicker cloud; there is no mention of sunshine so we are surprised to wake to relatively clear skies. After last night’s family event, it is a painfully slow start - I just might have overindulged in terms of wine ….
So, when we finally head out to gather sloes, the skies are ominously dark and in the coastal hinterland, we’re foraging in misty rain. Below us, however, the coastal plain glows brightly in October sunlight, so our route home takes us to Llanddulas beach.
Here, we’re in sunshine, but looking out towards an inky black horizon of ominous clouds. I just love these days; the clash of light and dark is beautiful. We walk along the coastal path - now rough and broken from the sea’s encroachment. The wooden sea defences are badly damaged, buckled from the force of storms, metal bolts rusted and torn apart in places. Despite the banks of boulders, repairs will be essential as the land behind is low and vulnerable - but for now I find the textures, shapes and colours fascinating - hence the collage extra.
My main looks east, towards clear skies and warmth, the dark foreboding skies rising high in the west. These skies are huge - hence I’m relying on my iPhone camera, but in my second extra there are views directly out to the darkness of the sea.
