Perilous Journey

Signs of winter remain as the ice retreats on the river. This deer carcass was one of three within a 100 metres of each other! It looks like they attempted one-too-many trips between the mainland and the islands and either went through the ice or perished trying to swim the frigid water. Mrs. drewox and I had seen a small herd crossing a few months ago - these may be some of them. I must have scared off the scavenging crows today - perhaps just as well.
