Inventions of the 20th Century - Radio

I have chosen the radio as my blip for today's Mono Monday challenge, because it is my constant companion.  I have the radio on most of the day, Much prefer listening to the news on the radio rather than the television, and there are such interesting and informative programmes.  Growing up the radio was all we had. In 1953 we were invited round to a neighbours house to watch the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, on their 9inch screen.
'The development of the radio between 1920 and 1945, was the first electronic media, along with newspapers  and moving pictures, defining an entire generation of mass culture.'

The  inventors of the radio could never have dreamed that it would become the digital radio of today, complete with added clock and CD player seen in my blip.
Thank you to Laurie34 for hosting this month with such interesting topics.
