Brent Geese
A quiet start to the week and a little wander at Old Leigh to see the hundreds, if not thousands, of Brent Geese who have arrived in Essex after migrating from Siberia, and they stay here until about March when they head off on their travels again. Apparently a quarter of the world's population of Geese hang out in Essex for the Winter so it's always nice to see them - and hear them too! Quiet they are not!!
We were also entertained by a little boy called Oscar who was at the beach with his mum and their whippet dog George! Oscar seemed to love being the star of the show for those of us watching the world go by, and kept us amused by jumping in and out of sand holes dug by various other dogs on the beach and giggling! HIs mum was really chatty too, and says he'll be 2 in February and they're hoping to fly to Colombia at some point to see her family, as they've still not met him considering all the Covid restrictions. They are in for a treat when they do meet him! lovely family!
The beach was the place to be today too as a large school party showed up for a sandcastle building competition!! Why did they never have those classes when I was at school?!
Also spotted some TV crews around the railway station and down in the old town as the sadness over the murder of Sir David Amess still hangs over the area.
