Dried Seed Heads
I liked the look of these dried seed heads behind a window of a shed. I managed to get my bedding washed and line dried before the rain came, and the gardening I'd been working on.
The saga of the Covid jab continues. After being told my invite for an early 'booster' was an admin error by a doctor's assessment, today I got a letter from the NHS telling me I may have a significantly weakened immune system due to a condition I have (or recent treatment, which I haven't had), and to get a '3rd primary jab'. So at least this gave me a clue as to what reason I'm being invited for a jab and to which one of my conditions they might be referring to.. After reading the JCVI guidance on the 3rd primary jab and doing a bit of googling, I think the original invite was correct. So I've written to the surgery again with an excerpt from the guidance and another from a charity website supporting the condition. If it is correct, it will be the first time I've been told by the NHS that this condition affects my immune system at all! What a mess!
Day 581 / Day 92 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
A big jump in new cases today to 49,156, with the trend in hospital admissions and deaths also rising again. A member of SAGE has warned against waning levels of immunity from vaccinations. Sad news that General Colin Powell, a former US Secretary of State, has died from Covid complications (he was fully vaccinated). There was a 75% increase in the no. of people being referred for a suspected episode of psychosis between Apr 19 and Apr 21. Only 1.2m of the 2.2m over 80's needing a booster shot have had it, and there are queries over whether the booster rollout is too slow. Valneva is reporting that its jab in trials has a stronger immune response than the AZ vaccine, with fewer side effects. The UK Govt pulled out of a deal to buy 100m doses of the vaccine as the Health Secretary said it wouldn't have received approval. Vaccine passports came into full force in Scotland today.
