Supermarket trolleys
Such an every day convenience, these supermarket trolleys or shopping carts. They were invented in 1937 by Sylvan Goldman, owner of the Humpty-Dumpty grocery stores chain in Oklahoma. Not really for convenience, more to get more profits. He was figuring out a way to make his customers buy more by providing them with more space for storing the groceries but easier than carrying the normal shopping baskets, experimenting with a metal frame on wheels holding two wire baskets ! For today's MonoMonday theme of 'inventions of the 20th Century' with thanks to laurie54 for hosting and giving us these interesting themes.
Thanks very much for the kind comments and stars for yesterday's Abstract Thursday results and the palm leaf shadows.
