Six Mile Walkway

Son T and I went for a walk after school, up the Six Mile Walkway. At the end of the track is the intake (where this photo was taken), where water use to be separated from the main river, and diverted to the Six Mile Powerhouse Scheme. This scheme was one of the first public hydro power generation schemes in the South Island. It was opened in January 1922 and ceased generating power in 1975.

While walking along the track, this wee Robin popped out beside the track. I love the way it has tilted its head. There where also bellbirds singing high in the trees, although I couldn't actually see them.
