It’s been a horrible day for poor Toby. His neck looked worse this morning and we felt he couldn’t wait to see the vet at home so we took him to a vet in Surrey. He had to be sedated and left with them to have his neck shaved and the area cleaned. Leaving him there was so upsetting although we knew we were doing the right thing and it did help that the vet was so lovely. We had been told he would be there a few hours so it was a very pleasant surprise to get a phone call after 90 minutes to say there was no abscess and he was ready to pick up. We got quite a shock when we saw the extent of the skin infection and it wasn’t nice to see him so woozy and confused. We could have gone back to my brother’s but decided the best thing for Toby was to get him home. By the time we crossed the border the sedation had worn off and it was such a relief to see him more like himself. We’ve now got stronger antibiotics and a steroid cream so hoping for significant improvement over the next couple of days. He’s happy to be home (and it really doesn’t matter that Mr T and I had very little room in the bed, Toby was very comfortable!).
