Wide Wednesday . . . Repeating
I went to this Kiwifruit orchard because I like the "teepee" structures above the vines. The wind shelter screen made a filter on a bright and sunny day making it easier to see the strings. The new canes will climb up the strings. After the crop is picked, the old canes will be pruned, the new canes cut free and become the canopy to produce next years crop. Up in the light the canes grow to a good size. The new canes on the teepees also protect the crop from wind and hail and keep the crop cooler.
That's your horticultural lesson for today.
