Light Box
With the drizzly grey skies unwilling to relent, a quiet, oppressive veil has been dropped over the Auld Grey Town these past few days.
Swapping texts with a friend and lamenting the poor weather, he thought that he might invest in a light box to cheer him up a bit. Looking out of the window at that point, it was hard to find any fault in the logic behind the proposed investment.
My day began with a nervy drive to the office in the torrential rain – including a bum cheek tightening spot of aquaplaning on the M6 – to collect some supplies for a trade show that we’re attending on Friday. If you want a challenge, think of ways you could draw people to an insurance-related stand! My own technique includes chocolate, smiles and the faint whiff of desperation. Something of a busman’s holiday…
Another enjoyable lunch time meeting in a very tastefully appointed setting followed before I was back at the desk and blitzing my way through various tasks. With pressure mounting and workloads increasing in our business, not for the first time was my shoulder used to cry on as it all became a bit too much for one colleague.
No films this evening and instead as The Eldest and I munched our way through our enchiladas, we watched Swedish Dicks (very funny) and the first couple of episodes of Succession, which is also excellent – I understand the buzz around it now.
With the light box suggestion pinging around in my head, I decided to switch the fancy lights on over the fireplace (usually reserved for special occasions), I don’t know if they did much in a light therapy regard, but they certainly looked pretty!
