Baconsthorpe Castle

Not a lot of this left… but it was an interesting visit! There is a large quadrangle through this gatehouse with a lake beyond. We walked across the quad to see the lake and the weather changed and the rain teemed down! Back to the car to shelter, and we decided it was time to go home for a cup of tea ….. The castle had been the home of a farming family, and had not really been in any skirmishes, so it had just been allowed to fall into disrepair!!
