The Great Unveiling

This morning I attended a House Banner Ceremony at Shawlands Primary School in Glasgow.

The pupils had voted for Charles Rennie Mackintosh as an inspirational Scot and therefore one of the eight Houses was named after him.

The school has been working on creating shields and mottos that reflect the inspiration of Mackintosh, coupled with the school values. They then had these hand made into giant banners.

Today's special event was a celebration of the completion of these banners. It was great to see the reaction of the children as each banner was unveiled (Hogwarts Style).

Other houses unveiled today were Wallace, Burns, Rowling, Glennie, Tennant, Murray and Hoy. All great Scots present and past.

It was good to meet the Scottish actor David O'Hara who was representing Rowling and Wallace. He played Albert Runcorn in Harry Potter and Stephen in Braveheart.
