Tribute act

Seventeen years ago today, this photo kicked it all off. Or to be more accurate, the guy who took the photo did. 

I remember the whole blipfoto thing as originally being a blog in a little corner of Joe T's diyjoe website. 

Twitter didn't exist, Facebook hadn't launched in the UK, and Flickr had only been going a few months.  A different time, and it seemed weird to be looking at Joe's photos every day. A bit stalker-ish, but in a good way. 

I can't say that his first blip stood out among Joe's images. But for me, it's got everything that makes this place special: a moment captured, a spontaneous approach and a quick thought from the day. It's never just about the photograph.
