Let Battle commence

Fascinating subject but terrible day .. This is the entrance to Battle Abbey (that was closed today). It was built at the location of the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and these days forms part of a bigger tour that takes in the battlefield. It's really challenging to get a decent image of such a complex structure and as I took this I wondered (a) what sort of specialist lens would have made this easier, and (b) how nice it would have been with a blue sky!
Anyway never mind, I had a nice cup of coffee and a sit down nearby and then felt better.
