The Fortress of Isabel II
This is a tiny part of this gigantic ‘ castle’ ( known as La Mola ) which surely must be the biggest in the world!
This picture is just a reflection of the quality of design and craftsmanship available during its 1850-1875 build time.
Isabel was a baby when it was conceived and she was here for its inaugural ceremony as a young woman.
What I really wanted to blip was my pic of the Loop Gallery which is 390 metres long , divided into 48 chambers each with 2 slots for the Fusiliers to shoot from and disable the enemy in the middle moat. But .....the picture was rubbish!
Unfortunately / fortunately the fortress never saw battle!
