Garfield Park Reservation

CMP volunteer Ruth S invited me to join her for a hike.  We had a great time getting acquainted and meandering through 3.5 miles of the park during my first visit there.  Lots left to see. It's located in a semi-industrial old suburb near downtown Cleveland.  We saw a handful of people in the main part of the reservation, but no one at all when we drove 5 miles up Broadway Avenue to see Mill Creek Falls, the highest falls in Cuyahoga County.  I didn’t realize we had driven into Union-Miles and District 4 where the most murders in the city occur…37 from Jan 1 - Aug 9, 2021.

In the main part of the park we saw plenty of deer.  Many of the bridges, stairs, and walls were built by the WPA in the 1930s and they remain in great shape.  Near the falls some iron artworks were installed and some huge chunks of rock have quotes inscribed on them. A few beautiful pictures can be seen here.  I wasn't able to do it justice from my locations and on a yucky gray day.

Happy weekend already again everyone!
