Leaving Nottingham
Reluctantly. Though I always look forward to going home.
One of the things I’ve noticed in this city is the incredible quantity and quality of detail on the older buildings. I don’t think I’ve been anywhere before where you see so much if you look up.
If you look at these: the brickwork, stonework, lead on the windows, the metal work, little towers and turrets, the window designs, and the actual shape of the skyline created. I thought it lovely, and a real tribute to Victorian artisans.
If you look closely you will see an owl poised above the window, or is it a cockatoo? The gryphon (is that what is it? a lion with wings) has the indignity of being covered with anti-pigeon spikes.
Now home, I’m going to need some time to catch up looking at everyone’s journals, as I haven’t had a spare moment while away:)
