The last supper?

These pigs are destined to go to the abattoir on Monday to become sausages and bacon. We have been staying with a friend who has a variety of livestock on her ‘farm’. She has all the sausages and bacon returned and then freezes it and sells some.  However I’m not sure there is really much profit in it. She also has hens and sells eggs but I was surprised that she actually drives to deliver some eggs to individual houses! Also on the farm are alpacas…they are basically pets! I think she would be termed a hobby farmer although she does not see herself as such!

It’s all very different to the farm I grew upon and that several of my family run with either dairy cows or have arable farms on a larger scale.
