Someone kindly gave us this old book on cocktails. Decided to find out about 'Robert' who wrote the book. He was Robert Vermeire, born in Knokke in Belgium in1891. Studied hospitality in Germany and moved to London at the beginning of the First World War. He was one of the twenty five most influential barmen in the 20th century and published his first cocktail book in the early twenties. 
He returned to Belgium and opened a bar...'Roberts'. It was successful for some time but eventually folded.
