Fish On a Stick

We had the glass for the terrace roof extension fitted early this morning then went to the annual fishing festival at a nearby lake. They drain the lake each year to harvest the fish for selling. We arrived late morning as I have seen it a few times already and don't need to get up at sparrow's to stand in the cold each year. Today was mostly sunny but freezing when the sun went in. The village puts on a wonderful choice of food. There are stands for fried carp and trout roasted over hot coals (fish on a stick), Pommes (french fries), Frankfurts, bratwurst and the like. Amazing array of cakes and desserts including Mohnnudeln (gnocchi like dumplings with butter, icing sugar and poppyseed. We ate Steckerlfisch (see first 2 extras). A mug of Punsch (like Glühwein with Schnapps) for me and a kids Punsch for Hubby warmed us up afterwards. The third extra shows what's in the pot.
On the way back to the car park we stopped at some of the ubiquitous produce stands for local gin and smoked pork. Back home I made pumpkin soup and a peach 'tiramisu' with some very astringent peaches given to me by a neighbour. Will see if it is any good tomorrow.
