The Sutton Hoo helmet
One of my favourite exhibits in the British Museum. It’s next door to the Lewis Chessmen and I usually pop in.
This afternoon I couldn’t get a ticket for the Hokusai exhibition but that’s been a marvellous lucky break. I could just wander round and explore.
There’s an amazing huge Buddha in one of the stairwells (across two floors). The Swiss Alpine prints are also worth seeing. And there is fascinating information about the Museum’s involvement on helping to protect endangered aretefacts, including the war on fakes.
Meeting friends to dine at Sarastro tonight and then I’ll be going to the final dress rehearsal of “La Traviata” tomorrow morning. Yes, I know I’m lucky.
