Any Storm in a port!

Today Oban was taken by 'Storm', in the form of the 10-metre puppet representing the 'Goddess of the Seas'. She's been around the country quite a bit and was due to begin her walk from Station Square this morning at 10.30, but was more than an hour late in setting off for some reason. It wasn't exactly a warm morning either. The seafront was completely crowded to see her come by - she trundled up to the North Pier and thence to the Corran Halls, with crowds lining the route all the way.

For those who haven't yet seen her, she's made entirely of recycled materials and is mounted on the front of a small hydraulic crane, her feet, head, hands and eyelids being worked by rope by a number of yellow-clad assistants.

Quite a few of our Photo Club folk were spotted out and about with their cameras, and most of the rest of the population were waving their phones about. I think that camera sales must have plummeted over the last couple of years! I can't deny that phones weigh a fraction of that of a digital DSLR! Local Facebook pages are filling up with pictures of the lady!
