Unexpected Twite

Today we caught the bus out to Musselburgh. The forecast was for fine, dry weather and so it was for most of the day, but a heavy shower soaked us through before the sun came out again, and a gentle sea breeze dried us off. We were really pleased with our day’s birding - lots of ducks and waders, divers, sawbills, geese, and gulls, but two unexpected highlights were a small flock of Twite who posed beautifully for us, and a covey of Grey Partridge. I’m including one of those in extras as well as a finely lit Curlew (I can never resist a Curlew) and some amazing rainbows and reflections.
