Spot The Gulls
Washes of late sunlight on Sandymount Strand. Having shot some film downtown (for a music project we're working on) I took a left at Merrion gates, pulled into the car park, crossed the road to the garage for a takeaway tea & snack then returned and sat in the car for a good while, doing some writing (on a thing about trains) but mostly absorbed by the shifting cloudscape. Each time I stepped out to take a few quick shots I hopped back into the heated interior with numb fingers. I could watch this sea-shifting light forever (have watched it forever), brimful of scoured emptiness, mutable, metaphorical, suggestive of everything and anything but primarily itself; light I make my own.
