Following dutifully behind...

We're now staying with my younger brother & his wife in Reading, and had a fun day being entertained by their 3-year-old granddaughter who they were childminding for the day. During the afternoon we had a walk to Emmer Green Pond to see the ducks, and we particularly liked the mandarin ducks. It was fun to note that Mrs Mandarin Duck insisted on her hubby following dutifully behind her. :-))

Apparently mandarin ducks are monogamous. Because of this they have become a symbol of love and fidelity in China, Japan and Korea: it's common for a pair of figurines of these ducks to be gifted to newly-weds.
