Flat Pack

Another day of building work, progressing really nicely now. Me, labouring to save money, Gary, bricklaying to earn money.

All the sand, and ballast for concreting comes in 'one ton' bags. Brilliant things for carriage of heavy materials But... They are single use only, for health and safety reasons. (harrumph!) So the many that we have used get flattened to be sent to landfill, or, where possible, reused in the domestic arena. I use them all the time for garden waste. They fit in the back of the estate car perfectly, for trips to the recycling centre. I think this is a terrible and unsustainable waste of materials, there must be tens of thousands of these thrown away every month in the UK... Surely some enterprising individual could come up with a use for recycling these incredibly strong bags...

Thanks for all the kind words over the last two days. Our Ell is doing OK. Might need physio for neck and shoulder, might need a new car, but in a positive and upbeat mood. Good! No news on the condition of the Inebriated Man whose head did so much damage to Ell's car. Hope he has some Anadin.
