Varigotti, Liguria

Taken from one of our many view points on our ebike route. We met friends in Finale Ligure this morning (very famous mountain biking area in Italy) along with a guide. We then put our rented, full suspension ebikes on a trailer and we’re driven up the mountain for 40 mins. There are no cable cars here so every hour fleets of minibuses and trailers take bikers up the mountain so they can take one if thé many trails down. We set off from an old military base (now full of graffiti paintings) and did some demanding (for us!) downhill cycling, mixed in with x-country cycling. The bikes were fabulous and it made such a difference. The route was mainly single track and through forests. We stopped for a late lunch at a mountain restaurant by a cave, where they served us a ´biker’s menu that included pasta. More cycling and viewpoints before we finally descended to Finale. The whole route was 41km and we set off at 10.30 and arrived back in Finale at 17.30. A full day out. We were all delighted with the route and very impressed by what we came down as there were some technical parts. It was great to have a guide with local knowledge who was relaxed when the 4 hours we should have spent with him became 7!

Next stop was the old town for wine and appetizers in the square at sunset, followed by ice cream on the beach. Feeling very blessed to have had such a fabulous day with friends.

Extras show the start point and some of the scenery.
