O.A.P.

In Wales entitlement to a free bus pass starts at 60.   Ruth kindly ordered mine back in May and today it had it's first outing.   Aberystwyth and back saving me £12 in petrol and the grief of a long wait after my appointment.   The ride would be more spectacular on a nice day but travelling back from Aber to Machynlleth on the top of a double decker was fun.   The pic isn't squiffy, this was on the fairly steep descent into a village.  See extra for the reaction in the front row seats :-)

My eyes are OK.   Thankfully the ophthalmologist found nothing untoward, just signs of the aging of the eye which many people experience.   The shrinkage of the gel inside the eyeball can cause an increase in floaters and some occasional blurring as the gel detaches from the back of the eye.   It should settle down in a month or two.  Not a major issue day to day but I'd noticed a change and in some cases these symptoms can be a sign of more serious problems.   A relief.   Having drops to dilate my pupils left me with rather more blurry vision for a few hours - hence the decision not to drive today.   I'll go on the bus again though, for shopping.   More variety of shops and cheaper options in Aber and the buses connect well making the journey take only a little  more than self drive.

My Mum had sat with Meg and we enjoyed a cuppa on my return.  A little later Jamie cooked me a delicious meal for tea so I feel like I've been well looked after today.
