Dreams of a Homebody

That's how I feel anyway. We (meaning the family) really haven't gone anywhere lately. My husband and I went to our local park earlier this week. It's hard to get out and about when we have desk jobs and the boys are in school.

The most exciting places I've really been to this week was Goodwill and Salvation Army. I always walk out with more albums. I keep adding to our classical music collection. Today, I walked out with some more 78s and a slew of classical music anthologies. There were a lot of pieces that I've not yet heard and I am willing to listen to them. If there's a piece that I like, I will then search at the local record shops to see if they have it on vinyl, either 33 1/3 or 78, as I'm not picky.

Although, since it will be April soon, that means there is one thing that will happen. Every year, we take a day trip on my birthday. This year, I want to go to St. Louis (again) but I've never been to the art museum there and I want to see Degas' Dancing Girl sculpture in person. It's one of my favorite sculptures...and one that's actually close, because I somehow doubt that I will ever make it to the Louvre or to Rome anytime soon...or in my lifetime, to be honest. I also wouldn't mind going to the art museum in Indianapolis. It's been well over a decade since my husband and I have been there. Since I will bring my film cameras (and a plethora of lenses) I'll have to shell out the $50 for a photography permit, but I think that would be money well spent. There there's the zoo (both cities).

This summer, I think I have my husband talked into taking us back to Wisconsin again. We've been to the EAA museum a couple of times and made the air show once. I would LOVE to go again. The air show is an all day adrenaline rush. Being buzzed by a Stealth bomber doesn't happen in every day life (unless, of course, you fly them)...or seeing the old Flying Fortress (the B-17 bomber), or the P-51 Mustangs. Wow!

Since we've been some serious homebodies all winter long, I keep thinking of trips we can do in a day or a weekend, instead of a week long vacation this year, although going back to Louisville would be nice. We didn't quite see all the museums there, either, but I could spend a couple of days alone at the Frazier and never get bored. But if we go to Wisconsin, we could stop at Mount Horeb. I've never been there and have been told what a great place that is. (Plus there's the cheese, chocolate, coffee and wines!) I wouldn't mind hanging out with trolls for a day or two. lol!

Dreams of a homebody...Hopefully, at least one of those will come true this year.
