Christmas has come early
Endemic to New South Wales and Canberra, the NSW Christmas Bush (Ceratopetalum gummiferum…now there’s an amusing Latin name) is in full bloom next door. Whoever named it was probably a Sydneysider, 750kms south of here, where it probably doesn’t look this one until Christmas time.
That fount of all knowledge, Wikipedia, tells me that the gummy bit of the name refers to the large amount of gum that is discharged from cut bark.
