Far Round the World
One advantage of working in our newly-reclaimed front room is getting the chance to enjoy some things that I usually only see if I go in to open the shutters or clean it.
The wooden chest comes from Scotland, bought before we got married and full of LPs; the red leather box was a pressie to Bb and I think bought in Barcelona; the lizard on top is from Cairo ; the green bowl is Mallorquín glass, bought in Barcelona ; the yellow vase (a favourite of mine) was bought in Hungary ; the mosaic box from Rio; the pyramid from Cairo ; the little Christ the Redeemer in front of the red box, from Rio; the BBC Gardening book from Scotland and used to be my dad's (a pressie from us); we bought the painting on the wall from an American artist, who became a friend in Budapest. In fact, we also bought the yellow vase from his shop, together with, ahem, quite a few more over our 3.5 years in Hungary - both vases and paintings. Nice to see them all while I'm working away doing Aptis.
'Far Round the World' was one of our chosen hymns at our wedding. Who would have known then what was in store for us, given that we both had good jobs and a flat in Edinburgh and, in fact, Bb was a young partner in a Scottish law firm!
