Sóller

We went to Sóller village and port today on a fairly epic journey via number 25 bus, vintage wooden narrow gauge train and tram. It was a lovely trip through mountains, and citrus groves, over bridges, a viaduct, and (apparently - I didn’t count them) 13 tunnels. Until the opening of the railway line in 1911, the valley’s abundant citrus fruit and olive oil harvests had to be transported to Palma along old mule tracks across the mountains with donkey carts.

We had coffee at a cafe in the square and tapas for lunch at the harbour, then some
sight seeing and light retail therapy before our return journey, making it back to El Arenal in time to catch the sunset at the beach before dinner. Mind you, that had to wait while we grappled with the government’s Passenger Locator Form system first...
