Light in the darkness

These are the new battery-powered hurricane lanterns that I bought for power outages.  I didn't need them today, despite the nearly 1.5 inches of rain, but I'm glad to have them for the next one.  As you can see, how much light they emit depends on how far up the cap is pulled,  A little work turned this shot into an abstract.

I spent much of today clearing out the refrigerator, at least the top shelf.  It's so deep and so low that I can't see what's in it and things go bad because I don't remember they're there, and they take up space in my small refrigerator that I can't afford to lose.  Otherwise, I cooked some chicken breast pieces to add to the soup when I get to it tomorrow.
