Autumnal corner

Just as the river levels in Kendal looked to be reaching a critical level, it finally stopped raining.

The river remains high and swollen, but has dropped back from the rather alarming levels we were seeing yesterday. There have been a number of localised floods elsewhere throughout the county, but nothing like we had back in 2015 and the weather, whilst still unpleasant, should be improving a little over the next few days.

I had a walk between the raindrops this morning, rounding the corner on this lovely autumnal scene, before settling in for the day’s work, which was nice and uneventful. Also, popped to the doctors for my seasonal flu jab and presumably it won’t be too much longer before I’m getting stuck with the Covid booster jab.

Took another trip down the driving range this evening as my keen student had indeed been bitten by the bug earlier this week and wanted another go. They are at a point where they need more than my amateur tutorage, but watching back a couple of videos of their decent shots, revealed that there is definitely the bones of a decent swing there.

A lovely fun active week has taken its toll so happily collapsed onto the sofa with some Chinese food and some episodes of Ted Lasso.

I’d like to say that I’ll have the chance to rest up this weekend, but with the children here and family (hopefully) on their way up to visit, it seems unlikely!
